In the Mathematics Learning Area students learn about Mathematics, what it is and how it is used in making decisions and solving problems. The study of Mathematics enhances the students' ability to:

• Recognise when mathematics might help
• Choose appropriate mathematics
• Do the mathematics
• Interpret the results and make judgements about solutions

In Years 8, 9 & 10 students study mathematics in six clusters, derived from the Curriculum Framework. They are placed into classes working at Levels 3, 4 or 5 depending on their ability.

In Year 11 & 12 students choose courses depending on the levels previously studied, and further education or career needs.
