City of Kalamunda calls for comment on Kalamunda Skate Park

The City of Kalamunda is seeking the community’s feedback on a proposal to relocate Kalamunda Skate Park to Stirk Park.

A petition from local youths has suggested Kalamunda Skate Park is not fit for purpose, given it’s location, poor condition and lack of facilities.

“The current skate park is located beside a busy road and is considered to present a danger to both skaters and families attending the park. It’s also a run-down, single purpose facility which does not lend itself to attracting new users.”

The youths suggested the skate park be relocated to Stirk Park to create an inclusive, active and safe space for people to come together.

“Stirk Park…is more central and will attract the attention of more casual traffic through the park. This location also gives access to toilet facilities, more seating arrangements as well as the extensive grass area for non-skating family members to play and relax in close proximity.”

Hard copies of the survey are available at all local libraries as well as the City of Kalamunda Administration building.
