High Performance Baseball Program

Affiliated with Baseball WA and The Perth Heat

Reinforcing the critical understanding that enjoyment, skills and discipline are most effectively developed by Education.  The Coach of this program conducts specific activities within the curriculum guidelines that enable the student athlete to pursue a pathway to higher education while further developing their baseball knowledge and skills implementing the Darling Range Sports Colleges ethos.  The baseball program will include very structured lessons and training with a priority on values, interpersonal skills and firm understanding of respect, not only for the sport but the wider community and their peers.  The High Performance Baseball Program is available for Students in Years 7-12 and addresses all the fundamentals of baseball and provides expert direction and coaching to maximise a student’s skills and abilities, in line with Baseball WA’s pathways.

What does the program entail?

  • Minimum of three 1 hour coaching sessions per week including fitness sessions
  • 1 hour Sport Science (focus on diet, nutrition, sports medicine, psychology, recovery and rehabilitation, coaching and umpiring)
  • Baseball WA and Softball WA Interschool Competitions
  • Demonstration games prior to the Perth Heat fixtures
  • Games against touring teams from interstate and overseas
  • Intensive clinics with Australia’s leading coaches
  • Opportunity to complete coaching,  umpiring and scoring accreditation
  • Interstate and overseas tours
  • Fitness Assessment twice a year and feedback in relation to National Standards

How does the program link to Baseball WA’s pathways?

  • Student athletes clear pathway to College Baseball programs in the USA Junior Colleges in Florida – Texas
  • Darling Range Program works and liaises directly with BWA –Perth Heat High Performance Programs
  • Direct links to all State League Clubs, State  Association and National Programs, both junior and senior including Little League Programs
  • Continuous exposure to professional scouts

Selection Process

  • Entry into our High Performance Sport Programs is through a selection process.
  • All applicants must complete a physical tryout (Stage 1).
  • If the applicant is successful for Stage 1, we will require copies of the last two (2) school reports to assess your child’s academic and behavioural achievements (Stage 2).
  • If  your child is successful in both stages, they will be offered a position in their chosen program.
  • Written communication will be sent advising the outcome of your child’s application.
