High Performance Netball Program

The DRSC Netball Program was the first in Western Australia to be endorsed by Netball WA

What does the program entail?

The high performance Netball Program is available for students in Years 7-12 and provides a unique opportunity for talented netball players to combine academic achievement and sporting excellence. The program includes:

  • 4 hours per week developing their skills including fitness.
  • Included in the 4 hours is the highly regarded Sports Science Program incorporating a focus nutrition, sports medicine courses, sports psychology, training for competition, recovery and rehabilitation, coaching and umpiring.
  • The program is implemented with a full academic curriculum, with the opportunities to gain University Entrance, TAFE Entry or a Certificate II in Sport and Recreation.
  • Opportunities to compete in SSWA competitions at Zone, Regional and State level.
  • Opportunities to compete in Interstate and Overseas competitions.
  • Opportunities to compete against leading Private Schools (IGSSA).
  • Opportunities to play Interstate and International teams.
  • Individual programs for players.
  • Strength and conditioning programs.
  • Fitness Assessment twice a year and feedback in relation to National Standards.

How does the program work?

  • Netball coaching staff, and Netball WA meet to develop the skills program which aligns with the National Curriculum of Core Skills established by Netball Australia.
  • The program has two pathways; an elite pathway known as High Performance and a development pathway.
  • The elite pathway provides for more 1 on 1 coaching and training designed to assist State Academy, Western Australian and National representatives.
  • The development pathway involves regional and school competitions and group training to assist club, association and regional representatives.
  • West Australian coaches and players provide intensive clinics.
  • The program aims to assist players to fulfill their potential and play at the highest level.

How does the program link to Association/community netball?

All players are required to be registered members of Netball WA.  The College program complements programs conducted by all regional netball associations.

Netball WA

Netball WA is the governing body for netball in Western Australia, incorporating 11 affiliated Regions, 74 affiliated Associations, 5 Tier 1 Specialist Netball Program Schools and a Suncorp Super Netball team, West Coast Fever.

The Darling Range Sports College Netball Program is part of The National School Endorsement Program which is supported by Netball WA.  The objective of the program is to engage students to pursue netball through the various pathways from within our school environment: Athlete, Coach, Umpire, Official, Volunteer pathways.

Selection Process

  • Entry into our High Performance Sport Programs is through a selection process.
  • All applicants must complete a physical tryout (Stage 1).
  • If the applicant is successful for Stage 1, we will require copies of the last two (2) school reports to assess your child’s academic and behavioural achievements (Stage 2).
  • If  your child is successful in both stages, they will be offered a position in their chosen program.
  • Written communication will be sent advising the outcome of your child’s application.
