Academic Program

The Academic Challenge and Enrichment Studies program at Darling Range Sports College is comprised of two linked programs:  ACES for students in Years 7-10, and Primary ACES for students in Years 5-6.

ACES

The ACES program caters for our academically talented students in Years 7 to 10. The program provides extension and enrichment opportunities in the areas of English, Maths, Science and Humanities and Social Sciences.

The program is staffed by outstanding teachers who regularly undertake professional development in working with gifted and talented students. Student progress is closely monitored and each ACES year group is mentored by a member of the Senior Administration team. Where appropriate, students are supported by staff with a direct responsibility for the ACES Program.

Students in the ACES program have opportunities to work with local universities and the states larger private businesses.

Students participate in national and international competitions across each of the learning areas. Some of the recent competitions have included the Australian Mathematics Olympiads, Rio Tinto Science competition, National Geographic competition, Maths and Science online competitions, the Writers Festival and University of New South Wales competitions in English and Mathematics.
