AIEO & AIEO Curriculum Support

The Aboriginal and Islander Education Officer (AIEO) plays an important role in creating culturally responsive schools and supporting both Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal students. They act as a liaison between communities and schools to create supportive and inclusive learning environments.

The College AIEO, Jasmin Flemming, has worked with our school community since 2017 and is a fantastic mentor and ambassador who advocates for students and families within the community. Providing education and pastoral care support, Jasmin is supported by various staff and is responsible for leading the newly formed Aboriginal Committee which creates positive changes within the community and is responsible for planning of events, providing professional development opportunities for staff and embedding the Cultural Standards Framework in the school.

To further support Jasmin and the Aboriginal and Islander students at Darling Range Sports College, Pania Wirepa McRae has been appointed as the Curriculum Coordinator.  In this role, Pania is responsible for creating Individualised Education Plans (IEP) and guiding students into the appropriate career pathways.  She has a focus on developing students’ self-management skills, time management skills and overall attendance which are areas that will help students succeed in their career aspirations.

Please feel free to contact the College or the AIEO team if you wish to discuss how we can support your child.
